Welcome!
We're glad you found us.
You're now one step closer to experiencing freedom from the negative, carryover effects of growing up in an alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional home. You are not alone.
Who we are...
INRecovery Intergroup, representing communities throughout Indiana, is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to assisting local ACA groups and providing support to adults recovering from the effects of growing up in an alcoholic or dysfunctional home.
What is ACA?
Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families (ACA or ACoA) is a traditional 12 Step Program for those who grew up in a dysfunctional environment that includes any combination of alcoholism, drugs, abuse, neglect, mental health issues, or other unhealthy behaviors. Our problematic childhoods resulted in our adult selves displaying negative behaviors we know as The Laundry and meeting the demands of life with survival techniques we learned as children.

Local ACA groups meet to share the experiences we had in these environments: the way it infected us then and the ways it affects us today. Through the recovery process of ACA, we are able to come out of denial and share the pain of childhood memories. We are shown support, love, and acceptance from fellow travelers as we come to know our real selves and learn to behave responsibly. We do this by identifying with our Laundry List characteristics and live each day in The Solution. We become our own loving parent, choosing to reparent ourselves with gentleness, humor, love, and respect.
